U2 share “Street of Dreams,” first single from upcoming album

U2 have yet to share details of their forthcoming new album — their first in nine years — but you can now hear the first single. “Street of Dreams” was produced by Jacknife Lee and finds Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. in upbeat, anthemic mode with just a touch of that classic U2 guitar sound.

The video was directed by Cliqua and shot in Mexico City back in May, during the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals Tournament. According to the press release, the shoot “drew a huge crowd of fans despite inclement weather, with thunder and rain unexpectedly causing a generator to crash and a local family welcoming the four band members into their apartment to film on the balcony.”

U2 also celebrate their 50th anniversary this year: they originally formed in 1976 as Feedback, before changing their name to The Hype the next year and settling on U2 in 1978.
