TV on the Radio played surprise TV Eye show to warm up for Webster Hall run (pics, video, setlist)

TV on the Radio begin their four-show NYC residency, their first proper shows in more than five years, at Webster Hall tonight. As a warm-up, the band played a very intimate surprise show on Sunday night at, appropriately, TV Eye in Ridgewood. The show was announced an hour before doors and was $5 at the door. Their 11-song set opened with “Young Liars” and included “Golden Age,” “Wolf Like Me,” “Could You,” and more before they closed the main set with “Satellite.” They came back for an encore of “Dancing Choose” and “Staring at the Sun.”

Check out photos by Taylor Sesselman, the TV Eye setlist, plus video and the show poster, below.

Over the weekend, TV on the Radio also had a “Box Office Day” at Webster Hall, where they sold tickets for this week’s four sold-out shows at the box office, cash only and no service fees. People who showed up got their tickets in envelopes that had been personalized with illustrations and thank-yous, pretty cool.

The band also warmed up by playing “Staring at the Sun” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, and you can watch that below.

TV on the Radio also have great openers for the Webster Hall shows: They’ll be joined by Museum of Love (for a DJ set) on 11/25, L’Rain on 11/26, Soul Glo on 11/29, and Bartees Strange (playing solo) on 11/30. Resale tickets may be available.
