The Tyde announce ‘Season 5,’ share “Heal Thyself”

The Tyde, the long-running project of Darren Rademaker (who was also in Further), has announced its fifth album, Season 5, which will be out February 24 via Spiritual Pajamas. This is the first Tyde album in nearly eight years and the first since Rademaker moved back to Florida after years in California. It features contributions from Dan Horne, Colby Buddelmeyer, Matt Correia (Allah-Las), Clay Finch (Mapache), Albert Hickman, Derek James (The Entrance Band), Alex Knost (Tomorrow’s Tulips), Adam MacDougall (Circles Around the Sun/Black Crowes), and Matt Fishbeck (Holy Shit).

“I lived in Florida from the ages of 10 to 25, but never really got to explore it,” Rademaker says. “When I came back, I decided to really embrace the whole Florida aesthetic. I moved into an art deco home in Sarasota with pink seashell lamps. I visited Key West, like seven times. I also quit smoking weed and cigarettes, and stopped saying shit like “LOL” and “amazeballs.” It felt different. It felt good.”

“In the past, I have always looked to California for inspiration, with surfing and the Neil Young coastal vibe. But I knew I wanted these songs to be less California, and more about the islands,” Darren says of Season 5, which was also inspired by vintage episodes of Miami Vice and Magnum P.I.

The first single from Season 5 is opening track “Heal Thyself,” which shows off The Tyde’s new keyboard-driven direction, but still with Rademaker’s laid back sensibilities, distinct melodic style, and lots of twang. Check that out below.
