The Strokes have shared the video for “Going Shopping” from their upcoming album Reality Awaits. Directed by Johann Rashid and shot on the Spanish island of Tenerife, the video features actor Walton Goggins (White Lotus S3, Justified) who lip syncs the song as Julian Casablancas sits nearby. It’s a little indebted to Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al” video, which co-starred Chevy Chase, but there’s more going on here with a not so subtle political agenda, taking digs at Amazon and the current White House administration, among other targets. Eventually the rest of the band show up just ahead of an ending that is a little shocking. You can watch below.
Reality Awaits is out July 24, and The Stokes’ world tour includes a massive NYC show at Flushing Meadows Corona Park on October 2 with TV on the Radio, Beach House, and Fcukers as support.
