Ben Gibbard, Jenny Lewis, and Jimmy Tamborello got The Postal Service back together for the first time since 2013 to celebrate 20 years of their only album, 2003’s Give Up, in 2023, and they’ve continued celebrating the anniversary (along with 20 years of Death Cab for Cutie‘s 2003 album, Transatlanticism) on the road this year. Those dates are winding down, though, and The Postal Service have confirmed that when they’re done, they’re going back into an indefinite hiatus.
“Hey Everyone,” Gibbard writes, “As we bring the Transatlanticism / Give Up Tour to a close, I want you all to know that getting the opportunity to perform these two albums live has been one of the greatest thrills and honors of my entire life. On behalf of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service; Thank you so much for coming out and singing along. We will see you all again somewhere down the road. Xo Ben”
The final show of the run is at Washington DC’s HFStival, which is returning for the first time since 2011 on Saturday (9/21) at Nationals Park. The lineup also includes Incubus, Bush, Garbage, Jimmy Eat World, Girl Talk, Violent Femmes, Tonic, Filter and Lit.
