The Moldy Peaches, the duo of Kimya Dawson and Adam Green, are returning for their first show since 2023 next year, when they headline Carnegie Hall on June 26. Brothers, Tayamni and Chetan Goodshield rap against oppression without holding back any brutal truths; all with massive amounts of energy, charm, and thoughtfulness. If anyone should be famous it’s them.
Samantha Crain – Gumshoe
Samantha Crain makes me feel like I’m spying on my grief stricken heart while it’s having a slumber party, in someone else’s brain, where it’s starting to process the things I am trying to hide from.
Zeyne – Awda
Zeyne is a Palestinian/Jordanian artist that merges Arabic music with R&B in this absolutely flawless and breathtaking debut album.
Sage Lacapa – Golden Wave Woman
In Sage’s own words “Journeys through the joys, trials, and tribulations of NDN Lovin.” Sage (and his partner Kirin) are laying their stories and journey face up on the table, under the stars. I love them.
MJ Bones – existential dreadful
MJ makes me feel like I can retire and the emotional Black weirdo kids in small towns will be in good hands. Balls to the wall Connecticut badassery. Only available on Bandcamp.
Mega Ran – Buddy’s Magic Treehouse
This one is hip hop for the kids (of all ages). No talking down. No mincing words. It’s fun, silly, sad, real, and smart. I’ve been a Mega Ran fan for years and having followed his journey from teacher to dad makes this one even more special.
Sinners – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
“Last Time (I Seen the Sun)” is my favorite song but if I heard Rocky Road to Dublin coming from outside, my ass would be a vampire.
Rosalía – Lux
This album scratches a centuries old itch in a brand new way. My jaw was on the floor the first time I heard “Berghain.” I almost had to pull over and turn off the van.
ADAM GREEN’S BEST SONGS OF 20251. Turner Cody – “We Need Each Other”
Lyrical grandmaster. Must listen to Turner’s entire song catalog.
2. Tchotchke – “Davide”
Indie greatness. These ladies don’t mess around – my fav indie band.
3. Jeffrey Lewis – “Sometimes Life Hits You”
The DIY Michelangelo is back with another kick to the balls.
4. Devon Church – “All That’s Solid Melts Into Air”
Devon makes apocalyptic poetry fun again.
5. Avice Caro – “The Wishing Tree”
She’s the #1 folk-singer in London.
6. Double Deüce / Toby Goodshank – “Pig Walnut”
The legendary brother-sister duo – Let em’ do whatever they want to do.
7. Geordie Greep – “Holy, Holy”
Who’s this guy, seriously? Good work!
8. James Levy – “Diana”
Genius melodist – listen to “Reputante,” everything he’s done.
9. Larval Organs – “Puritan Love Letter”
Antifolk hero – sculptor of sludge, angst, and so many gems!
10. Ryder the Eagle – “The Room Where Love Comes to Die”
Have to seem him live to believe it’s true – Ryder makes everyone else look like an amateur.
