The Linda Lindas released their sophomore album, No Obligation, this year, and before that they were busy on a big tour with Green Day, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Rancid. As 2024 draws to a close, we’ve been asking artists about their favorite music of the year, and The Linda Lindas made us a list of albums the whole band, and individual members, loved. THE LINDA LINDA’S TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2024
Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso – Baño María
This album was super inspiring to me these last few months. I discovered this duo on Tiny Desk, and they were life-changing for me. (Bela Salazar)
Juan Cavallo – Juan Cavallo Believes In You
One of those EPs I put on when I need to get up and do things!! My homie made this EP and it’s great!! (Bela Salazar)
Redd Kross – Redd Kross
Redd Kross’ ripping basslines, fierce drums, and catchy riffs blow me away. Their contagious melodies are constantly stuck in my head, and I’m not mad about it! (Wong)
Trap Girl – The Savage Goddess
Fierce and catchy, listening to Trap Girl’s album is like getting punched in the face in the pit – the raw vocals and heavy drums tear your face off but you can’t help but keep dancing! (Wong)
Mannequin Pussy – I Got Heaven
This was such a landmark album for me this year, and I vividly remember listening to it on repeat when it first came out. The songs are so familiar to me now and their live performance was one of the highlights of my year. They’re so important to me and to music in general, and their attitude is an inspiration. St. Vincent – All Born Screaming
I really love how St. Vincent is so unafraid to make music that’s powerful and unusual. This album is such a cool journey to take and it is super inspiring for me as a guitarist in the way she uses the instrument. (Lucia de la Garza)
Destroy Boys – Funeral Soundtrack #4
Destroy Boys has always been a band I admire, so it was really cool when we became friends with the members. We got to see some of the process and hard work they put into this album, which was awesome for me as a fan and as a fellow musician. They’re so unapologetic about who they are and what they stand for and I’m so proud of them and I know they’re proud of this album! (Mila de la Garza)
Girl in Red – I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY
I’ve loved Girl in Red for so long and was so happy when she announced she was going to release another album. The album has such a great energy, with elements of her older stuff while bringing new exciting things into the mix. (Mila de la Garza)
Bacchae – Next Time
We had the honor of playing a show with them this year and got to hear some of these songs live before they announced the breakup of the band. But don’t let that stop you from listening to this album, because they have this sharp ability to use their unique musicianship to tell a story and make you wanna dance. (All)
illuminati hotties – POWER
Sarah is so talented, and it shows on her new album more than ever. It’s been really cool to see how she’s explored new things on each album, and it felt like we were waiting all year to hear what direction she would take on the new one. When it came out in August, listening to it became such a source of joy, and we were so happy for her. (All)
