The Killers have just released “Your Side of Town,” their first new single since last summer’s “Boy.” Still no word on a new album, but when they released “Boy,” Brandon Flowers told NME that one would be coming this year, so keep staying tuned. The song was produced with frequent collaborators Stuart Price and Shawn Everett.
The song finds The Killers exploring ’80s synthpop territory (with a vocoder chorus), as Brandon Flowers explained to Hanuman Welch on ALT CTRL Radio on Apple Music 1: “It’s like a collision of a lot of the music that inspired us and influenced us, but it works wonderfully. I hear Pet Shop Boys, I hear New Order, I hear Depeche Mode. But at the same time, I really do feel like I can take ownership of it. It doesn’t feel like a copy. It’s nice when things like that work out. You can’t really force it. It was just one of those magical moments in the studio where it was born and we were lucky that we’re able to capture it.” Listen below.
