After roughly 15 years of waiting for a sophomore album from the Australian group The Avalanches, Wildflower is set to release July 8. The band has already released two singles from the album, “Colours” and “Frankie Sinatra”, and their third single, “Subways”, just dropped. Featuring samples of Chandra’s “Subways” and Graham Bonnet’s version of The Bee Gees “Warm Ride,” the song sounds like a magnificently psychedelic homage to their 2000 debut album Since I Left You, and you can listen to it below.
The Avalanches recently played at the Primavera Festival in Spain and are scheduled to perform at the Splendour in the Grass Festival in Australia July 22-24 and the Oya Festival in Norway and the La Route Du Rock in France in August. We’re hoping to learn that The Avalanches are one of the two surprise artists on The Meadows fest line-up.
