People have been wondering about a Talking Heads reunion in a more serious way than usual ever since all four bands members joined forces to promote A24’s 4k restoration of Stop Making Sense and David Byrne said he regrets the band’s “ugly” breakup, but now Billboard is reporting that the band turned down an $80 million offer from Live Nation to headline six to eight festivals and other headlining concerts. The article also reveals that Coachella curator and Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett met with the Talking Heads and their representatives but “sensed there were no shows happening, so [he] didn’t make an offer.” Damn!
Meanwhile, Paramore have just released their “Burning Down the House” cover from the Talking Heads tribute album that’s set to accompany A24’s restoration of the film. It’s a perfect song for Paramore–you can very much hear its influence on the last two Paramore albums–and they do a very faithful rendition that still sounds distinctly like Paramore. A24 also revealed that the album, titled Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense, will feature covers by BADBADNOTGOOD, Blondshell, The Cavemen., Chicano Batman Feat. Money Mark, DJ Tunez, El Mató a un Policía Motorizado, girl in red, Jean Dawson, Kevin Abstract, The Linda Lindas, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, The National, Teezo Touchdown and Toro y Moi.
