Even if you don’t listen to many film scores on their own, it’s worth paying attention when Thom Yorke does it. His score for Daniele Luchetti’s feature film adaptation of Domenico Starnone’s novel Confidenza is his first score since 2018’s Suspiria, and like that one, the music stands tall by itself, even without the film it was written to accompany. It’s got two vocal-led songs that sound like proper Thom Yorke songs (“Knife Edge” and “Four Ways In Time”), along with 10 gorgeous instrumentals, and sometimes it’s the non-vocal songs that are the most gripping.
