Brooklyn emo band Stay Inside have announced a new album, Ferried Away, due February 28 via self-release (pre-order). The band says:
Ferried Away is a collection of songs about people we love, or have loved. Each song is dedicated to a specific person we know. Tying the songs together is the concept of Steeplechase. Steeplechase Park was one of the original Coney Island amusement parks that burned down in 1907. To many New Yorkers, Coney is a fun and beautiful place that you’ve always wanted to visit but never make the time. This album lets the historical Steeplechase stand in for a sort of purgatory of memory where the people you love live between the last time you see them and either of your deaths. Whether you’re estranged, or in different states, or just fallen out of touch, these are songs for the friends in Steeplechase.
The album features recent singles “A Backyard” and “An Invitation,” as well as the just-released “Sweet Stripe!”. It’s a soaring, swinging-for-the-fences emo-pop song inspired by memories of the version of Williamsburg that existed in the early 2010s. It comes with a Stephen Mlinarcik-directed video that keeps the album’s Coney Island theme going, and you can check that out below.
Stay Inside begin their run on the awakebutstillinbed tour with Like Roses this Thursday (11/2) in Baltimore, and the tour includes a hometown show for Stay Inside at Brooklyn’s Alphaville on Sunday (11/5). All dates on the tour poster below.
