Spiritual Cramp are back and have announced RUDE, their sophomore album, which will be out October 24 via Blue Grape Music. The album was produced by John Congleton and features Sharon Van Etten on the song “You’ve Got My Number.”
“When you focus on yourself and the people around you, you can keep your side of the street clean,” frontman Michael Bingham says of the album’s themes. “And when I see the opposite of that, I get kind of offended, which is what a lot of these songs are about.”
The first single from the album is “At My Funeral,” which has Spiritual Cramp’s signature mix of punk and new wave by way of the ’00s post-punk revival. It’s fun. The band say the song’s video, directed by Sean Stout, was influenced by The Pharcyde’s “The Drop,” though there’s no backwards lip synching. Watch that below.
