Soft Cell have announced their final album, Danceteria, which will be out later this spring via Republic of Music. It was completed prior to the death of cofounder Dave Ball in October 2025 and was inspired by the New York City nightlife of the early ’80s, specifically legendary club Danceteria, where they would spend their off-hours when not working on their iconic debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret.
Full details of the album haven’t been shared, but the first single is out now — a cover of Was (Not Was)’s “Out Come the Freaks” that features Dave Ball on lead vocals with the great Nona Hendryx on backing. It’s pretty awesome and you can watch the video for that below.
Soft Cell will release Danceteria (Remixes) as a 12″ single for Record Store Day 2026.
Marc Almond will be touring as Soft Cell in North America with The Human League and Yazoo’s Alison Moyet throughout June to July this summer, stopping at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall on June 26.
