Soccer Mommy shared a cover of Shery Crow’s 2002 hit “Soak Up The Sun” back in July, and she’s now announced it’s from a new covers EP, Karaoke Night, due out September 22 via Loma Vista. It also includes her renditions of songs by Pavement, Slowdive, Taylor Swift, and R.E.M., and you can see the cover art and tracklist below.
She’s shared her version “I’m Only Me When I’m With You,” from Taylor Swift’s 2006 self-titled debut, which eschews the country twang and fiddle of the original, making for a song that would sound right at home amongst her originals. “I really wanted to cover this song because it’s one of my favorites from Taylor’s first album,” she says. “I listened to that record so much when I was a kid and I think it had a lot of influence on me then.”
