SNL mocks Oasis, Liam Gallagher responds

Saturday Night Live returned this past weekend (10/12) with host Ariana Grande (who did impressions of Celine Dion and Jennifer Coolidge and sang a parody of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”) and musical guest Stevie Nicks (who performed her new song “The Lighthouse” and her classic hit “Edge of Seventeen,” marking her first SNL performance since 1983), and the episode also took another music-related turn when James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman parodied Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis during Weekend Update. In an interview with Colin Jost, they spoke about the band’s upcoming reunion tour and their long-standing feud, with “Wonderwall” renditions and plenty of British slang included.

The actual Liam Gallagher has since responded after a fan sent him the clip on Twitter/X: “Are they meant to be comedians?” In a reply to another person asking what he thought of SNL’s impression of him, he replied, “Excruciating.” See his reactions and the Weekend Update clip below.

And meanwhile, Sarah Sherman has responded back to Liam:

Oasis’ reunion tour hits the NYC-area for shows at East Rutherford, NJ’s MetLife Stadium on August 31 and September 1, both with Cage the Elephant opening. Tickets for most of their North American shows are already sold out. All dates here.
