Sharon Van Etten is celebrating 10 years of her fourth album (one of our favorites of 2014), Are We There, and she’s announced a 10th anniversary vinyl reissue, available in black, gray, and silver tri-color split variants. She’s also announced a new “Every Time The Sun Comes Up” 7″, which will feature an alternate version of the song with a live version from Sydney Opera House on the b-side. Both are available for pre-order now, and you can watch the lyric video for “Every Time The Sun Comes Up (Alternate Version)” below.
In the lead up to the announcement, Sharon has been sharing memories from the album’s recording on social media. “Are We There turns 10 this year,” she wrote, “which has had me reflecting on so many things … am I where I thought I would be in my 40s? how did we expect our lives to unfold over 10 years? from when I wrote the record to now, so much has changed. everything has changed. my mentality, my surroundings, my family, and how I see the world. It’s hard to say where ‘there’ was when I wrote the record and if I’ve reached it yet. So…. I want to ask you all: are we there?” Watch a few of the videos she’s posted below.
