Seven people were wounded in a shooting that took place early Monday (10/29) morning at Sevilla Nightclub in Riverside, CA, Mercury News reports. As they report, a fight broke out shortly after midnight at the club, which was hosting a Halloween party and hip hop show called “The Purge.” Two groups shot at each other inside and outside Sevilla, according to the Riverside Police Department, who were dispatched to the scene at 12:04 am. They brought two people to the hospital with gunshot wounds, and five others arrived wounded at area hospitals separately. At least two other people were also hurt in the chaos of the crowd trying to leave the club during the shooting. None of the wounds were life-threatening.
CBS Los Angeles spoke to two attendees:
People started falling to the ground, and I thought people were fighting or dancing at first,” one man told reporters. “And I turn around, and then people started shooting and then I ran behind the bar… I heard automatic gunshots, there was like ten in a row.”
“We got trampled, I have bruises all over my back, it was just really traumatic, honestly,” another man added.
Police are reviewing surveilence footage from the evening for leads on suspects, and call the investigation ongoing.
