Flesh Produce is the Seattle duo of vocalist Myla Profitt and drummer/producer Karl Fagerstrom, and they make chaotic, glitchy, breakneck-speed noise punk. Their new album Couch Slime IV comes out September 22 (pre-order), and we’re premiering lead single “You Can’t Make Me Fuck.” Here’s what the duo says about the instrumentation and the sneering lyrical content:
Myla:
It’s about humiliating a guy when they try to make a move on you.
How embarrassing it is they thought there was even a shot to shoot.
How sometimes they think they deserve everything for doing nothing.It gives me the urge to be evil and play along to rob him blind.
Becoming a professional tease to at least get some free shit out of it.
And seeing how far you can go before they realize they aren’t getting any.Karl:
I try to switch up approaches whenever I can on instrumentals. On this one, I popped several Zyn (endorse us, please – same with you Guayaki). Then I chopped and randomly pitch-shifted some mathcore samples, turned them into various sequences, added 808s, and threw them all onto my Roland SPD-SX. I trigger them live individually while drumming over it and adding sample-pad effects at the same time.
