TRAИƧA is the latest compilation from the Red Hot organization, who promote public health and diversity through equal access to care. Billed as their most ambition release in their 35-year history, TRAИƧA features over 100 artists across across 46 tracks and the talent pool is seriously impressive. It includes Sade, Jeff Tweedy, Julien Baker, André 3000, Perfume Genius, Moses Sumney, L’Rain, Laura Jane Grace, Cassandra Jenkins, Christian Lee Hutson, Grouper, Julie Byrne, Julianna Barwick, Pharoah Sanders, Arthur Baker, Moor Mother, Alan Sparhawk, Lomelda, Yaeji, Helado Negro, Sharon Van Etten, Fleet Foxes, Bartees Strange, Pharoah Sanders, Adrianne Lenker, Mary Lattimore, Laraaji, Devendra Banhart, Blake Mills, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Sam Smith, Clairo, Hand Habits, Bill Callahan, and more.
“When we were putting together Red Hot and Blue, a generation of people were upset by homophobia and AIDS, and needed a lightning rod to put their energy into,” says Red Hot founder John Carlin. “I’m hoping that’s what TRAИƧA is – that there’s a large group of people who are appalled by transphobia and the way right wing politicians are using it to anger their base. And they’ll stand up and focus. They’ll say, ‘I want to push on the other side. There are more of us than there are of them.'”
TRAИƧA will be out November 22 (preorder) and proceeds will support “vital LGTBQ+ organizations at the same time it culturally invigorates the fight for trans rights.”

TRAИƧA marks one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken by Red Hot – a spiritual journey across 8 chapters and 46 songs, spotlighting the gifts of many of the most daring, imaginative trans and non-binary artists working today. It softens the edges of the world we know, and invokes powerful dreams of the futures that might one day thunder from its cracks. The album’s instantly memorable cover speaks to the tension between nature and constructed environments, and the tension of transness in the western gender binary.
With the announcement, Red Hot have shared the comp’s cover of Prince‘s “I Would Die 4 U” by Wendy & Lisa of The Revolution and UK singer Lauren Auder. “It’s hard to impress us with a cover of a Prince song, especially a personal favorite of ours like ‘I Would Die 4 U,’ but Lauren’s voice and vibey sensibilities spoke to us,” Wendy & Lisa say. “We were happy to lend whatever we could to the project and to Lauren to make the song something special. We’d venture to say that Prince might’ve enjoyed some of the innovation of this version of the song.”
Auder adds: “As most of us are, or will one day become, I am a huge Prince fan. I listened to him exclusively for a whole year aged 13, his songs and his flare have become part of my musical DNA. When it came to covering songs I knew I wanted to challenge myself and take on one of his. The lyrics to ‘I Would Die 4 U’ feel so potent and open-ended, up for interpretation, but an unconditional message of holding and support shines through. Getting Wendy and Lisa who sang on the original to accompany me through this version has been one of the proudest moments in my musical career and am so glad to be sharing this via Red Hot.”
