After reissuing Quicksand‘s classic 1993 debut album Slip for its 30th anniversary in 2023, Iodine Recordings is now doing the same for the pioneering post-hardcore band’s 1995 sophomore album Manic Compression. Home to classics like “Thorn In My Side” and “Delusional,” the album has remained just as much of a fan favorite and just as influential as its predecessor. Members of Thursday, Title Fight, Drug Church, and other bands praised the album in a SPIN piece celebrating its 25th anniversary, with Thursday’s Geoff Rickly saying “if Slip is Quicksand’s Nevermind, then Manic Compression is their In Utero.” Title Fight’s Ned Russin said the songs on this album are “simultaneously their hardest and catchiest” and added, “but the reason why I gravitated towards it, why it’s still my favorite Quicksand record, is because these songs are surprising and memorable at once, even after years and years of listening.”
For the reissue, Manic Compression was remastered from the original tapes by Jack Shirley and it features restored artwork by Melinda Beck. We have an exclusive yellow landmine splatter vinyl variant, limited to 400 copies. Pick up yours in the BV shop along with Slip and other titles.
