Prince died of opioid overdose

Prince died on April 21 in his Paisley Park estate. While there hasn’t been an official statement about his autopsy, a law enforcement official involved with the case (who asked to remain anonymous) has told the Associated Press that toxicology reports found that Prince died of an opioid overdose. UPDATE: The news says it was fentanyl.

Official autopsy findings have been witheld as they are part of a criminal probe. The Los Angeles Times reported in May that a Minneapolis-area doctor had seen Prince the day before he died, and that same doctor had prescribed medicine to the artist in April. The investigation remains ongoing.
