San Francisco’s Polkadot began in the late 2010s as the solo project of guitarist/vocalist Daney Espiritu but has since turned into a four-piece band, and now that band is set to release its new album …to be crushed on May 29 via Count Your Lucky Stars (cassette pre-order). The album features the band’s three recent singles “Still Around,” “Unstuck,” and “Pulling Threads,” as well as the new “If There’s Nothing Left to Say,” which premieres in this post. As you can hear across these four songs, the band makes ’90s-style indie rock that’s kinda twee-ish but also gets louder and grungier at times too. These are familiar comforts, and Polkadot are putting a spin on these time-tested sounds that’s all their own. Listen below.
