So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
FOREIGN HANDS – “CONDITIONED FOR A HEAD-ON COLLISION” (ft. OLLI APPLEYARD of STATIC DRESS)
Foreign Hands have been becoming one of the best melodic metalcore revivalists around, and they say this new song takes influence from post-hardcore bands like Thrice and Thursday. It also features Olli Appleyard of Static Dress, who are cut from that same cloth. The song comes ahead of the band’s tour supporting Dying Wish, whose great new album is out tomorrow.

THE ALCHEMIST – “VERTIGO” (ft. ACTION BRONSON)
The Alchemist’s Flying High Part Two EP is out tomorrow, featuring songs with Conway The Machine, Action Bronson, Curren$y, and Gangrene (Alchemist’s duo with Oh No). The song with Action Bronson is out now, and it finds these two doing what they do best.

SHORT FICTIONS – “CHRISTMAS ON A DYING PLANET” & “ENVY THE DEAD”
It’s November, which means Christmas music is here! …but “Christmas On A Dying Planet” is probably not the best addition to your family’s holiday playlist. (Or is it the very best addition?) It finds Short Fictions at their heaviest, fully embracing their metallic screamo side, while “Envy the Dead” is more of an atmospheric heavy post-rock song. Both are awesome, and they were mixed and mastered by Majority Rule/NØ MAN’s Matt Michel.

VYVA MELINKOLYA – “222”
Angel Diaz’s new album as Vyva Melinkolya, Unbecoming, is due out on November 9, and she’s shared the dark, droney “222,” which features backing vocals from Hayden Anhedonia, aka Ethel Cain.

RACETRAITOR – “PASTORAL MONOLITH” (ft. DENNIS LYXZÉN of REFUSED)
Chicago political hardcore vets Racetraitor tap Refused vocalist Dennis Lyxzén for the latest taste of Creation and the Timeless Order of Things. This one finds them moving into blackened sludge metal territory, and the band says it’s “about the lasting and devastating impacts of British colonialism in Nigeria. In the past few weeks, we have seen Israels attacks on Gaza which also have their historical roots in British colonialism,” adding that the video features “images and quotes from various activists and artists who have fought back against colonialism, settler colonialism, and their capitalist systems.”

STEVE MASON X ONEDA – “MOSS SIDE FISH FRY”
Former Beta Band frontman Steve Mason has offered up a completely reworked version of “Moss Side Fish Fry” (from this year’s great Brothers & Sisters) featuring Manchester rapper OneDa. “I approached this track as I would do a spoken word piece, using my verses in a poetic form, deconstructing the meaning I took from Steve’s lyrics in the chorus,” says OneDa. “I’m really excited to have an opportunity to share this side of what I do. The lyrics I write are of confusion and feeling lost in a world that ‘chews you up and spits you out,’ not being quite sure where you or anyone else fits in and continuing the journey being fully aware of this. The video complements the words, it’s a straight up, animated performance walking through the streets of Manny.”

KATE CLOVER – “ROMANCE”
Jonah Falco (Fucked Up) and Brandon Welchez (Crocodiles) co-produced this new single from Los Angeles’ Kate Clover. It’s a hooky garage ripper.

FEVER RAY – “EVEN IT OUT (FROST CHILDREN REMIX)”
Frost Children’s remix of Fever Ray’s “Even it Out” takes the song into a propulsive 2-step garage fist-pumper.

RONNIE STONE- “RIDING IN THE RAIN”
Do you like the cheesy side of the ’80s, when “rock” had lots of “synth”? So does Ronnie Stone. “Riding In The Rain is about loss and heartbreak, about feeling like an outsider in your own hometown, and the sense of feeling trapped as the world changes around you,” says Ronnie. “As I was writing this song, I was thinking about movies such as Taxi Driver, Say Anything. There is a vivid section of Zen And The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance where the narrator (Phaedrus) describes riding his motorcycle straight into a torrential downpour. This imagery was on my mind when writing this song.”

CODESEVEN – “HOLD TIGHT”
Codeseven announced their first album in 20 years, Go Let It In, due December 1 via Equal Vision. Lead single “Hold Tight” finds them in atmospheric yet hard-charging alt-rock territory.

WENDY EISENBERG – “THE KISS” (JUDEE SILL COVER)
Wendy Eisenberg has shared a lovely cover of folk legend Judee Sill’s 1973 classic “The Kiss.”

DISCO DOOM – “TUESDAY” & “COMET”
In related news, Switzerland’s Disco Doom announced some US tour dates today, including a show with Wendy Eisenberg’s band Editrix in Brooklyn at Baby’s All Righton 11/26. Disco Doom also put out two new songs: “Tuesday” kinda sounds like a more atmospheric Dinosaur Jr and “Comet” finds them in motorik mode.

Eichlers has remixed Sad Snack’s “RVIVL,” turning the ska-punk song into a burst of hyperpop euphoria.

Cymbals Eat Guitars offshoot Empty Country’s great new album Empty Country II comes out tomorrow and here’s one more pre-release single. “‘Syd’ is about being emotionally abused by a person who ‘remembers it differently,’” Joe says. “In the Empty Country universe, Syd is Pearl’s ex.” Read our new feature on the album for much more.

Now a four-piece, Mount Kimbie are delving into “band” territory on this new single that deftly mixes dance music and guitar indie.

Australian prog-disco outfit Midlife have announced their third album, Chorus, which will be out March 1 via Heavenly. This is the new single.
