Paul Weller announces new album ’66’: listen to “Soul Wandering”

Paul Weller has announced a new album, 66, which will be out May 24, one day before his 66th birthday. “It amuses me to think that I’ve got this far down the road with it all,” Weller says. This will be his 17th solo album, and 28th album overall in his career, that included leading The Jam and The Style Council; he made it primarily in his own Black Barn Studio.

The album includes contributions from Noel Gallagher, Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, MadnessSuggs McPherson, Richard Hawley, The Blow MonkeysDr Robert, Le SuperHomard‘s Christophe Vaillant, and Erland Cooper, with string arrangements by Hannah Peel. The album artwork and design is by Sir Peter Blake, who also did Weller’s classic 1995 album Stanley Road.

The first single from 66 is “Soul Wandering,” which was co-written with Gillespie and is the kind of soulful, sophisticated rock we’ve come to expect from Weller. You can listen to that below.
