We’ve been anticipating a new album from Olivia Rodrigo and now here’s official word: you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is her third long-player and it will be out June 12 via Geffen.
“I am so proud of this record,” Olivia says, “and I can’t wait for you to hear it.” Other than the cover art, title and release date, that’s all we officially have to go on. You can preorder the album now, though.
We do know she made the album with Dan Nigro who worked on Sour and Guts. She told British Vogue late last month that it was a “creative challenge to write from a joyful place. When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!,” then adding, “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.”
Stay tuned for more details.
Olivia Rodrigo covered The Magnetic Fields’ “The Book of Love” on the HELP(2) charity compilation this year.
