MEMORIALS, the duo of Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire / It Hugs Back), have announced their second studio album which is titled All Clouds Bring Not Rain and will be out March 27 via Fire. They produced it themselves, recording the album primarily at Studio St Rémy which is built in a barn in the Southwest of France.
“We travelled around to find the instruments and equipment we wanted to use, including a harpsichord, a vibraphone and a leslie speaker,” MEMORIALS say. “Also, in the case of the studio in France, we were looking for a place to lock ourselves away with only the album to think about: Studio St Rémy is in the Landes region in south west France, in the middle of a forest, in a barn. We went there earlier in the year to record the Kate Bush documentary soundtrack, and loved it and returned in June for our own album.”
All Clouds Bring Not Rain includes recent single “In The Weeds” and they’ve just shared “Cut Glass Hammer,” a real stormer with Susman’s surging keyboards and Simms’ incessant motorik beat leading the charge as the song builds to a crescendo of harmony and noise. Watch the video for that below.
