Nashville-based singer-songwriter Mali Velasquez is releasing her debut album, I’m Green, on October 13 via Acrophase Records. It was produced by Josef Kuhn, and she shared the first two singles, “Bobby” and “Tore,” earlier this summer. We’re premiering the third, “Shove,” which you can hear below. It’s a sensitive, contemplative indie rock track that should appeal to fans of Julien Baker and Big Thief.
“‘Shove’ is about a particular relationship I was in at the time, but also about trying really hard for the wrong reasons,” Mali says. “I can drain a lot out of people and moments and sometimes I look back and realize how much I take for granted, and I wrote this song in an attempt to explain the feeling of seeing myself doing the wrong things in the perfect moment.”
