As a surprise to no one who was paying attention, the “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” band that were announced to play Baby’s All Right last night was, in fact, Mac DeMarco. With his new mini-LP, Another One, out this week, the all-ages Baby’s show was a release party for the record and with only a $5 cover, it was as packed as the Williamsburg venue gets. Many of Another One‘s songs made their live debut last night and Mac finished the night with a cover of Steely Dan’s “Reelin’ in the Years” and a crowdsurf all the way to the back of the room before “walking on the ceiling” back to the stage (those poor acoustic tiles get abused).
