Liverpool’s Hooton Tennis Club make scrappy guitar pop that recalls the off-the-cuff charm of The Pastels, Teenage Fanclub or The Yummy Fur. The band’s debut album is out later this year via Heavenly and was produced by The Coral’s Bill Ryder Jones. Their new single is “Kathleen Sat On The Arm Of Her Favourite Chair” which makes its premiere in this post. It’s got all the elements you want from a song like this: big hooks, slightly out-of-tune guitars, romance, an overly long title, and a good finish. Have a listen below.
