Japanese noise rock legends Melt Banana will release 3+5, their eighth album and first in 11 years, later this summer. They may be older but they haven’t mellowed one bit as you can hear on “Flipside,” an absolutely wild ripper that launches out of the gate at 300mph and rockets through the next two minutes with relentless syncopated drumming, a maelstrom of guitars and Yasuko Onuki’s frenzied shouts. 3+5 will be out August 23, and Melt Banana just wrapped up their North American tour on Saturday in San Francisco.
