It’s been 14 years since Laura Groves released her self-titled debut LP as Blue Roses, and now she’s finally back with a new full-length album coming under her own name, Radio Red, due August 11 via Bella Union (pre-order). (She’s also put out some EPs/singles in between, made music as part of Nautic, and did collaborations with artists like Lost Horizons and Wilma Archer.) New single “D 4 N” fuses ethereal folk music with minimal electronics, and it features gorgeous backing vocals by Sampha (whose 2017 album Process Laura also sang backup on).
Laura says, “‘D 4 N’ is about the promise and possibility of escape and the problems that catch up with you after you think you’ve pushed them away. I’ve often felt pressure to maintain a strong exterior – this song is a reminder to keep moving through the barriers and find the pleasure in dreaming, living and sharing all that we have to offer ourselves and each other.”
