LA psychedelic rock band Color Green have signed to New West Records for their just-announced sophomore album, Fool’s Parade, due July 12 via their new label home (pre-order). The album was co-produced by the band and Mike Kriebel (Osees, Wand), and it also features appearances by members of Osees, The Nude Party, and more. The band says the whole album was written collaboratively as a band, with all of them in the room together the whole time, and lead single “Four Leaf Clover” was initially recorded live, with guitar and synth overdubs added later.
“‘Four Leaf Clover’ examines the feeling of being weighed down by the luck of your draw, only to be failed by the sight of your own navel,” the band says. “Thorns can draw blood, regardless, beauty starts from the stem.” It’s a swirling, hypnotic, harmony-laden psych-rock song that sounds straight out of 1967 and sounds pretty damn alluring in 2024 too. This kinda stuff just never goes out of style, and Color Green do it right. The song comes with a Slim Reaper-directed video that the band says is “an ode to Brion Gysin, and the vast explorations of the motif of fabricated luck and the inherent pitfalls that coincide.” Check it out below.
