Long Island melodic hardcore/emo torch-carriers Koyo released one of last year’s best punk albums with their debut LP Would You Miss It?, and they kept the momentum going this year with their three-way co-headlining tour with Anxious and Koyo, their opening slot on the Story So Far/Superheaven tour, and their new Mile A Minute EP, which features the new song “Mile A Minute” and reworked versions of two older songs. Now, guitarist Harold Griffin (also of Hangman) has told us about his favorite albums of 2024.
Harold’s list includes their recent tourmates The Story So Far, some fellow hardcore-scene bands, some hip hop, and more. It’s a cool list and you can read what he had to say about each pick below.

Harold Griffin’s (Koyo) 10 Favorite Albums of 2024
The Story So Far – I Want to Disappear
Lot of bands can put out a great album, not many can do 5. Their best record yet, [producer] Jon [Markson] killed this one. Can’t stop listening to it.
Darcy Baylis – More Again Forever
Really catchy and cool, wish I started listening to this guy sooner. Older stuff might be even better but I’m hooked on a bunch of these songs.
Wishy – Triple Seven
“Love on the Outside” is probably my favorite song of the year. I rock with this whole record but that’s the fucking track.
Armlock – Seashell Angel Lucky Charm
I love this band. This sound feels very refined, much better than anyone else trying to do a similar thing. I think they’re gonna blow up.
OT the Real – Prepare for War
Every release of his is great but this was my favorite of his this year. He is severely underrated and deserves way more love. Probably my favorite current rapper.
Final Resting Place – Prelude to Extinction
Sicko music I want to do something stupid when I listen to this shit. Coolest death metal hardcore band period.
Rome Streetz & Daringer – Hatton Garden Holdup
Kiss the Ring was one of my favorite albums a couple years ago, this is a great follow-up. I listen to this album on repeat when I’m driving sometimes.
Tarantula – If You’re Sideways, I’m Upside Down
Incredible songwriting on this entire album. “Turbo” and “Gone Fishin” are my two favorite tracks—I think they’re both perfect. I enjoyed this record so much that I want to be in this band.
Westside Gunn – Still Praying
Whole record is great, “Free Shots” is probably my favorite song off this one. The EP he dropped around the same time, 11, is also great but I think I prefer Still Praying.
Haywire – Conditioned for Demolition
I really love both Haywire releases to come out this year, they’re such a cool band. I’m a lyrics nerd and these are for real some of my favorite current hc lyrics.
