Knocked Loose announce new album (exclusive vinyl & new song/video “Blinding Faith”)

The time has finally come–Knocked Loose have announced their first full-length album in five years. The followup to 2019’s A Different Shade of Blue (which also follows 2021’s great A Tear in the Fabric of Life EP) is called You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To and it arrives May 10 via Pure Noise. We’ve got an exclusive blood red & black pinwheel vinyl variant up for pre-order in the BrooklynVegan shop. It’s limited to 500 copies.

The album title comes from vocalist Bryan Garris’ fear of flying. When he was battling nerves during a particular takeoff, he confided in the woman next to him about it, and she assured him, “You won’t go before you’re supposed to.”

The album was produced by Drew Fulk (aka WZRD BLD), who works with massive heavy bands like Papa Roach, Disturbed, and (past Knocked Loose tourmates) Motionless In White and A Day To Remember, and the album features Chris Motionless of Motionless In White and metal-friendly alt-pop artist Poppy. But, the band assures, they aren’t just toning down or getting poppier.

“On this album, we go the fastest we’ve ever gone; we go the scariest we’ve ever gone. We also go the catchiest and the most melodic that we’ve ever gone, and that’s the point,” guitarist/backing vocalist Isaac Hale says. “Instead of branching off into a specific direction, we want to encompass ALL directions.”

The fast and scary side definitely shows on lead single “Blinding Faith,” which fuses together elements of high-speed hardcore punk, death metal growls from Isaac, and industrial-metalcore breakdowns, all while sounding like one of Knocked Loose’s most concise, immediate songs. The subject matter deals with the hypocrisy that can accompany organized religion.

“It was just hilarious how many people showed up to church that I knew were rude, horrible, selfish people,” Isaac says. “They knew that it made them seem like a better person — or if they said the words, it would redeem them of any negative quality just because they showed face.” It comes with a video shot by Kevin Lombardo and you can check that out below.

The album announcement follows the recent announcement of Knocked Loose’s headlining tour with Show Me The Body, Loathe, and Speed, and that killer four-band bill lands in NYC on May 30 at Brooklyn Steel and May 31 at Terminal 5. They’re also on tour now in Europe and the UK with Deafheaven. All dates are listed below.
