King Crimson have been inactive as a live band for a few years now — their last show was in 2021 — and they haven’t released a studio album in even longer, since 2003’s The Power to Believe. That may be changing though, vocalist and guitarist Jakko M Jakszyk says. In an interview with Goldmine, Jakszyk, who joined Crimson in 2013, said a new LP was being worked on “as we speak.” “It was an amazing thing to have done,” he told Goldmine of his time in the band, adding, “and in a way, part of it’s still happening. As we speak, we’re doing a King Crimson studio album.”
“When that will come out and what format or how—that’s beyond my brief,” he continued. “But yeah, we’ve been doing it piecemeal, and then a couple of months ago, the management said, ‘Can we?’ So, yeah. I’ve been recording that with a view to it coming out in some format at some point. But who knows when?”
Jakszyk told Goldmine that the new album will feature the most recent Crimson lineup (Robert Fripp, Mel Collins, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison, and Jeremy Stacey), and to expect studio versions of new songs that appeared in that lineup’s live albums, as well as “some other bits and pieces.” Read the interview in full, which also touches on Jakszyk’s new solo album Son of Glen and more, on Goldmine.
