Julien Baker at Brooklyn Steel
Julien Baker at Brooklyn Steel in April (more by Amanda Hatfield)

In addition to her two excellent albums, 2015’s Sprained Ankle and 2017’s Turn Out the Lights, Julien Baker has done some really great covers and collaborations – we listed 15 of our favorites here. Julien is currently on tour with Tancred, and at her Monday (4/16) night show in Northampton, MA she took on The Mountain Goats‘ classic “No Children,” which she used as an intro to her song “Blacktop.” John Darnielle called it “the best version of ‘No Children’ I’ve ever heard” – watch it below.

Julien plays a sold out show at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall tonight (4/17). She returns to NYC this summer to play on a great lineup with Courtney Barnett and Vagabon at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival in Prospect Park on July 25 (tickets). She also plays some upcoming festivals, including Osheaga, Pitchfork Festival, Homecoming, Sasquatch, and Boston Calling.

Comedian John Hodgman recently covered “No Children” at The Bell House, too, and there’s a new Mountain Goats tribute album that came out this month (with Amanda Palmer, Laura Jane Grace, Andrew Bird, Craig Finn, and more).
