John Cale has announced new album, POPtical Illusion, which will be out June 14 via DoubleSix/Domino. Unlike 2023’s collab-heavy MERCY, this album was made almost entirely by Cale with co-producer Nita Scott.
The first single from the album is “How We See the Light,” which mixes in a little darkness with the sunshine, as Cale asks “Can I close another chapter in the way we run our lives?” and “More decisive in the future, or deliberate in the end?” over bouncy synths, drum machines and atmospheric guitar.
