Acclaimed jazz guitarist/bandleader and Tortoise member Jeff Parker has announced a new album by his ETA IVtet, which features saxophonist Josh Johnson (SML, Meshell Ndegeocello, Leon Bridges), bassist Anna Butterss (SML, Jason Isbell, Phoebe Bridgers), and drummer Jay Bellerose (Robert Plant, Allen Toussaint, Joe Henry). Titled The Way Out of Easy, it arrives on November 22 via International Anthem/Nonesuch (pre-order), and the 17-minute lead single “Late Autumn” comes with a film directed by Mikel Patrick Avery. Jeff Parker and the ETA IVtet will be in NYC on December 2 for two shows at Public Records (7 PM and 9:30 PM), as part of a three-show International Anthem residency at the venue that also features SML on 12/3 and Anna Butterss and Jeremiah Chiu + Alabaster DePlume on 12/4. After that, they play Zebulon in LA on 12/16, and there’s a listening party in West Hollywood for the new album on October 28.
