Jane’s Addiction are back with their original lineup, and they begin their tour with Love & Rockets tonight (8/9) in Las Vegas. Ahead of that, guitarist Dave Navarro spoke with Rolling Stone about the reunion, and about the time he spent sidelined from performing with long Covid symptoms. “The jury’s still out on what’s the right treatment for long Covid,” he told Rolling Stone. “How do you get rid of it, if you can get rid of it? But I’m in a stronger place, where I can at least get through a 90-minute show, and I can definitely sit in a studio chair for eight hours, because that’s not very exhausting.”
Navarro also told Rolling Stone about recording the band’s first original lineup single in over 30 years, “Imminent Redemption,” and about the possibility of a new album, saying, “That’s more than likely going to happen. I mean, we have recorded material. I don’t know specifically the model, if it’s going to be a song at a time, or if we’re going to drop a song and then a record, or I don’t really know. I kind of stay out of that stuff. What matters to me most is that this stuff is on vinyl.”
As for this tour, Navarro told Rolling Stone that attendees can expect to hear another new song. “There will be another one, that’s on the stage, and I don’t know if I’m giving anything away, but nobody in management has called me and said, ‘Don’t do this or that,’ but ‘Imminent Redemption’ will be available on vinyl,” he says. “And it will be backed with another song. So that’s exciting to me because I’m a vinyl freak.”
