Fresh off being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and giving a badass induction speech, Jack White has been announced as the Thanksgiving Day halftime show performer for his hometown NFL team the Detroit Lions‘ home game against the Green Bay Packers. The event is being executive produced by another hometown hero, Eminem, along with his manager Paul Rosenberg. Gospel singer CeCe Winans will sing the national anthem. The game starts at 1 PM ET and airs on FOX.
Other NFL Thanksgiving Day performers announced include Post Malone hitting the stage for his beloved Dallas Cowboys at their home game against the Kansas City Chiefs (airing on CBS at 4:30 PM ET), and Lil Jon doing the same for the Baltimore Ravens‘ home game against the Cincinnati Bengals (airing on NBC at 8:20 PM ET). At that one, Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry will sing the national anthem.
In a statement about his halftime show, Post Malone said, “I’m from Texas. I grew up a Cowboys fan and have been watching this halftime show for years. It’s a real honor to be part of the Red Kettle Kickoff with The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys and help bring hope to so many people.”
For Jack White, this is far from the first time he’s crossed over with the sports. He not only threw the first pitch at a Detroit TIgers game in 2014; he then got his own Topps baseball card for doing so. More recently, he performed the national anthem at a Tigers game and Jack White bobbleheads were given away at a Tulsa Drillers game.
