Iceage return with first new song in five years, “Star”

Danish group Iceage are back with their first new music in five years. While originally known for dark post-punk, the band lightened up considerably on Seek Shelter, and that continues here. “Star” is pretty joyous — dig those handclaps — and it’s even described it as a “a total love song.” It’s still very much Iceage though: “You’ve got me dying like a star,” Elias Rønnenfelt sings. “Centuries apart, sunlike in the battered sky.” A little sun does this band good, though — watch the video below.

No word on a tour yet but Iceage play Copenhagen’s Syd For Solen festival on August 14. Perhaps by then there will be a new album. Stay tuned.
