Hookworms have announced their third album, Microshift, which is out February 2 via Domino. It’s been a tough couple years for the UK band, with their 2015 North American tour falling through at the 11th hour, and having frontman MJ’s homebase Suburban Home Studio destroyed in a flood that same year. The new album was recorded in the rebuilt Suburban Home and marks a decided sonic shift for the band. There are still droning keyboards and roaring guitars, but there is much more of a pop influence this time, and MJ proves he can sing in addition to wail like a Pentacostal preacher. Opening cut and lead single “Negative Space” you’d even call danceable. You can check that out, along with Microshift‘s tracklist and cover art, below.
