Hosono House, the 1973 solo album by Yellow Magic Orchestra’s Haruomi Hosono, turned 50 last year, and to (belatedly) celebrate, Stones Throw Records will release a tribute LP with every song on the album covered by a different artist, including Mac DeMarco, Sam Gendel, John Carroll Kirby and The Mizuhara Sisters, Pearl & The Oysters, Jerry Paper, Cornelius, Akiko Yano, and more.
Full details have not been announced but they have shared Mac DeMarco’s understated, solo acoustic take on “Boku Wa Chotto.” Says Mac, “Hosono is my hero, I love all of his music, I am eternally at his every beck and call, it is my honor to be a part of this compilation. I recorded this cover in Joe Bird’s guest room in Paris, August 2023. I hope my Japanese pronunciation isn’t too horrible.”
