Hanni El Khatib & Rudy De Anda team for new song & John Lennon cover (listen)

Hanni El Khatib Rudy de Anda

Soulful garage rocker Hanni El Khatib has teamed with Chicano Batman associate Rudy De Anda for two collaborations, the new original song “Plastered Beach” and a cover of John Lennon‘s “Jealous Guy.” “Plastered Beach” also features Kelsey Gonzalez of Anderson .Paak’s band The Free Nationals on bass. “Plastered Beach” is the kind of funky, off-kilter song you might expect from Hanni El Khatib, with a heavy dose of vocal manipulation making things extra weird. Their psychedelic take on “Jealous Guy” is cut from a similar cloth, and it does the original justice while still shaking things up. We’re premiering both songs in this post — check them out below (and if you’re not familiar with Hanni or Rudy but you dig stuff like UMO and Tame Impala, you probably wanna hear these).

According to a press release, Hanni “has been busy in the studio working on several forthcoming projects,” so maybe we’ll be getting info on a new album soon. He also co-produced Pinky Pinky’s debut album, which is due later this year.
