Toronto alt-pop artist Sophie Powers sent Grimes the stems from “Obsessed,” one of the tracks off her new EP Glitch: Lvl 1, back at the end of 2023, and Grimes put her own spin on it, glitching it out even further, giving it a sinister undercurrent and adding a newscaster-style voiceover at the intro about space. Grimes played the resulting remix during her sets at AXE Ceremonia and both weekends of Coachella this year, and now the studio version, “Obsessed (Grimes DJ Edit),” has arrived; stream it below.
Glitch: Lvl 1 came out last month, and Sophie begins a tour supporting it tonight in Los Angeles (8/2 at The Moroccan Lounge), stopping in San Francisco (8/3 at Popscene at Brick and Mortar Music Hall), Philadelphia (8/7 at World Cafe Live), and NYC (8/8 at Mercury Lounge) before wrapping up the run in her home town, Toronto (8/10 at Drake Underground).
