Green Day share 3 tracks from the ‘American Idiot’ 20th anniversary box

It’s been a pretty busy week in the Green Day world. They had a security scare at a Detroit show but everything was cool (“There ain’t no motherfucker that’s gonna stop us, I’ll tell you that”), their side project Pinhead Gunpowder announced their first new album in ages, and now Green Day have shared three new tracks from the upcoming American Idiot 20th anniversary box set.

The newly-released songs include the Mike Dirnt-sung B-side/bonus track “Governator,” a live version of “St. Jimmy” from the band’s 2005 VH1 Storytellers performance, and a demo of “Wake Me Up When September Ends” that also comes with a video montage. Check out all three below.

The American Idiot box will also feature a live album recorded at Irving Plaza in 2004, a 110-minute documentary about the album, several other demos and B-sides/bonus tracks, and more. Pre-orders are up here.

Green Day’s current tour has them playing American Idiot in full for its 20th anniversary and Dookie in full for its 30th. See pics and our review of the Citi Field show.
