Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu has announced his third album, REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, due out May 15 via OURNESS. “I started writing this album because I was seeing so much of the world and watching what was happening,” he says. “I felt like I had something important to say. I was writing this almost for necessity because there were so many people not saying what needed to be said. I feel like I’m a student of Nina Simone, and she said, ‘the purpose of an artist is to reflect the times they live in.'” See the cover art and tracklist below.
The album includes his recent singles “Stampede,” “Death Cult Zombie,” and “Pirate Radio,” and you can watch the videos for those below.
Owusu will be on tour in Australia and Europe in May and June, including shows with IDLES and Royel Otis, and you can see all dates below. No North American shows at the moment, but stay tuned.
