Evan Dando apologizes to Jawbreaker

Back in 2022, The Lemonheads went out on tour with Jawbreaker as part of a 30th anniversary celebration of It’s a Shame About Ray. After a couple shows, though, The Lemonheads were dropped from Jawbreaker’s shows. Jawbreaker only wrote that The Lemonheads wouldn’t joining them on East Coast shows and that The Get Up Kids would be replacing them, but Evan Dando hit back, writing at the time, “I just want anyone anyone and everyone to know that Jawbreaker are pussies. Fact not my opinion.” (He also wrote lots of other stuff at the time.)

Two years later, Evan has apologized. “Thanks, jawbreaker!!,” Dando wrote on X/Twitter. ” I needed to grow up and you guys helped …I dig your music now … I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me and put me in touch with Fred Walsh!!!!! Long live Jawbreaker … sorry again I was outta my mind ! I sure wouldn’t of brought me on tour.”

Dando then added, “I hope as well JAWBREAKER knows that I was actually channeling a character / making fun of myself I hope you all got a laugh at least … I had fun … way too much … ‘you know what happens when you have too much fun …. (?)’ Rick Danko,” and then “Thanks again Jawbreaker… sorry for the hassle!”

Hopefully things are better now for Evan, who currently lives in Brazil and is working on the first new Lemonheads album of original material in nearly two decades.
