Months after their chaotic 2023 edition, Electric Zoo issued a statement saying “we know we let you down” and promising refunds for ticketholders. A few had sued organizers back in September, and Gothamist reports that five separate lawsuits have since been filed by festival employees and vendors, accusing them of unpaid wages and fees totalling nearly $1 million.
The court documents, reviewed by Gothamist, include claims for unpaid wages and tips from over 40 employees, including bartenders and servers, as well as claims from Goldstar Staffing for $300,000, The Last Light Company for $130,000, The Bright Pursuit, LLC for $211,248, and Sunbelt Rentals for $189,427.
Spokespeople for Avant Gardner, who purchased the rights to the festival in 2022, didn’t respond to Gothamist‘s request for comment; the festival did, however, deny Sunbelt Rentals’ claims in court on Monday.

Electric Zoo typically happened on Labor Day Weekend on Randall’s Island; there’s been no word about a 2024 edition, however.
